Laser technology
Laser technology is applied to the levellers in a way that continually synchronize the height of the blade.
The leveller, the laser beam transmitter and the laser beam receiver are the elements of the laser control system for levelling.
The transmitter is placed on a tripod that observes the natural gradient of the soil and sends the signal to the receiver, which is instead put on the machine itself.
The laser beam, as it is one of its internal characteristics, permits very high accuracy even over long sections of land. After obtaining the signal, a technologically perfectioned rotating pentaprism, put on these machines, gives back an ideal planning for the leveller to follow while functioning.
The receiver also has an important role, because it correctly reads the laser light received from the transmitter, through special photodiodes. The receivers, made by Mara Laser, guarantee the levellers will be able to move on any kind of ground and receive the 360° signal, though it could be low or it is subjected to interference.
On the leveller, besides, there is a control system to remove external interference. It lowers wind sound, automatically intercepts the signal and regulates the power of the tractor.
GPS receiver technology
GPS technology, however, is used to settle the position of the leveller and the height of the blade.
The levellers, that adopt this technology, perceive the laser signal from the satellites: even in this situation the planning is represented by the signal and reproduced on the soil.
Lately, thanks to technological advancement and the use of dedicated software, an accuracy of ± 10 mm has been obtained, even though this technology offers less accuracy than laser technology: GPS systems are subject to fluctuations as it is one of the periodic change of constellation of the satellites.
In any case, the less accuracy is compensated by the wide elasticity of use, in particular when this technology is used to work on large land portions with various inclinations, such as agricoltural ground and building constructions.
Integrated laser + GPS system
Mara Laser has created and made an integrated system that matches the precision of laser technology with the potential of GPS, suitable for tough soil.
The higher accuracy of the laser signal shows the plan within a radius of 1300 meters, while the GPS system communicates the place of the leveller. Therefor, the Mara system can settle the height of the tractor leveller and the place of the blade itself.
The creation of the 3D map of the soil permits to highlight the land portions that has to be scraped, the loading areas, the section where to begin, and the best way that allows to make the best work possible, with both the tractor and the leveller in the right position.
Therefor, the operator will have immediate instructions through the constant updating of the data by the system.
