Laser technology
Laser technology is applied to the levellers in a way that continually synchronize the height of the blade.
The laser levelling machine, the laser beam transmitter and the laser beam receiver are the elements of the laser control system for levelling.
The transmitter is placed on a tripod that observes the natural gradient of the land and communicates the signal to the receiver, which is instead mounted on the machine itself.
The laser beam, beacuse of its own characteristics, permits very high accuracy even over long sections of land. After getting the signal, a technologically perfectioned rotating pentaprism, mounted on these machines, gives back an ideal planning for the leveller to follow while functioning.
The receiver also has an important role, because it correctly reads the laser light received from the transmitter, through special photodiodes. The receivers, made by Mara Laser, guarantee the levellers will be able to move on any kind of soil and receive the 360° signal, even if it could be poor or experiences interference.
On the laser levelling machine, also, there is a control system to remove external interference. It lowers wind rumble, automatically captures the signal and regulates the power of the tractor.
GPS receiver technology
GPS technology, however, is used to set the position of the laser levelling machine and the height of the blade.
The levellers, that implement this technology, obtain the laser signal from the satellites: even in this situation the planning is represented by the signal and reproduced on the land.
Nowadays, thanks to technological progress and the use of dedicated software, an accuracy of ± 10 mm has been obtained, even though this technology offers poorer accuracy than laser technology: GPS systems are subject to fluctuations beacuse of the periodic change of constellation of the satellites.
In any case, the poorer accuracy is compensated by the wide elasticity of use, in particular when this technology is used to work on large parts with more than one inclinations, such as agricoltural ground and building constructions.
Integrated laser + GPS system
Mara Laser has produced and made an integrated system that matches the precision of laser technology with the potential of GPS, perfect for tough land.
The higher accuracy of the laser signal represents the plan within a radius of 1300 meters, while the GPS system communicates the place of the leveller. Therefor, the Mara system can set the height of the tractor leveller and the place of the blade itself.
The creation of the 3D map of the land permits to highlight the parts that has to be scraped, the loading areas, the section where to begin, and the best route that allows to do the greatest job possible, with both the tractor and the leveller in the right position.
Therefor, the operator will have instant instructions through the constant updating of the data by the system.
